Bjork - Alarm Call (Beck remix)

I don't know exactly how Beck hooked up with her to remix a song. Did she ask him? Are they friends? Mutual fans, certainly. Of course, they had to call this the "Bjeck" mix! The only other connection between Beck and Bjork that I am aware of is that they did do one photo shoot together for some magazine.

Beck always brings a sort of funky, yet mechanical, sound to his remixes (see Air's "Sexy Boy" and David Bowie's "Seven"). This one is no different. Beck's remix of the song is full of effects, strange ghostly keyboard sounds, and piano; standing out from all the noises is Björk's pretty voice. The coolest part is when the third verse completely changes directions, turning into a Gipsy King-style Spanish guitar! He certainly approached the song with a sense of humor and took some chances.

"Alarm Call" is a song from album "Homogenic", 1997

Quente, from Cancões Dentro Da Noite Escura album, 2005.

Lobão, is a rock and MPB singer from Brazil; he also plays the drums and guitar. Lobão is better known in Brazil for his 1980s hits, specially "Me Chama". His most famous album is Ronaldo Foi Pra Guerra.

Lobão has a reputation for having little inhibition in expressing his opinions bluntly and publicly criticising fellow musicians, which led to a notable number of controversies and enmities.

His best-known recent controversy is a break-up with the record industry. Claiming that all major labels are conspiring to deceive their own artists (by underreporting sales and using piracy as a scapegoat), he set an independent distribution plan to sell music CDs on newsstands and the Internet.

Thus far, this endeavor has been very successful: his recent albums sold well and were critically acclaimed. He also created a magazine, 'Outracoisa', which comes bundled with a music CD of independent artists.
